Beef minute steak sandwiches with scorched onions

  • 1kg beef fillet
  • 6 medium brown onions
  • tomatoes
  • iceberg lettuce
  • small pita bread pockets
  • tomato chutney


  1. Slice the beef and, using a meat mallet, gently pound out each slice until it is 1/2 cm thick
  2. Season with salt and pepper and set aside with the peeled and sliced onions
  3. Slice the tomatoes and lettuce and place onto a serving plate
  4. Cook the onions on a hot barbecue until scorched and starting to burn and caramelise
  5. Sear the beef quickly on each side until rare to medium rare
  6. Warm the pita breads on the barbecue and then place everything on the table for guests to assemble themselves


Serving Suggestion: Serve with tomato chutney Serves 8-10 as part of a bbq selection
